Flourish Within Sanctuary · Southern Costa Rica
A private five-day journey into Tantra, sacred union, and the art of being fully met — held in the lush jungle of southern Costa Rica, ten minutes from the Pacific.
Heart of Intimacy is not a workshop. It is not a seminar. It is a living experience — a five-day immersion into Tantra: the cultivation of presence, energy, and love within a relationship.
Tantra recognizes that your body is a sacred vessel, that your relationship is a powerful teacher, and that intimacy — true intimacy — is one of the most profound paths to self-realization that exists.
What we share comes less from books and more from lived experience — from walking this path ourselves, as a married couple, as parents, as practitioners devoted to what Tantra actually asks of us in the real fabric of daily life and love.
This retreat is held at Flourish Within Sanctuary — a boutique luxury villa nestled in the rainforest mountains of Savegre, just ten minutes from the Pacific Ocean. Reserved entirely for one couple at a time. Personalized to your intentions, your bodies, your story.
Tantra is not what popular culture suggests. It is a complete system of inner cultivation — integrating body, mind, energy, communication, and spirit into a living practice of relationship.
The body holds everything — unspoken words, unfelt grief, unexpressed pleasure. Through breathwork, dearmouring, and somatic therapies, we help the body remember its innate intelligence and return to ease.
Real intimacy requires real safety. Kriya Yoga, conscious breathwork, and embodied practices gently retrain the nervous system to remain open, receptive, and present — even in the tender spaces.
Approached with maturity and reverence, Taoist Tantric Arts teach us how to cultivate sexual energy — transforming it into vitality, creativity, and profound depth of connection with your partner.
Most relationship pain lives in the gap between what we feel and what we're able to say. We offer practical, embodied frameworks for listening with full presence and speaking with clarity and love.
Tantric arts illuminate the sacred dance of polarity — how the depth of the feminine and the steadiness of the masculine weave together to create magnetic aliveness between two people.
Cacao ceremony, guided ritual, and the medicine of place — the sanctuary itself, the jungle, the Pacific — form the sacred architecture within which transformation becomes not only possible, but inevitable.
This retreat is not for everyone — and that is intentional. It requires a willingness to be seen, to soften, and to let something real happen. No prior experience with Tantra or somatic work is necessary. Only a genuine desire to meet yourself and your partner more fully.
Whether you are newly in love and wanting to build on a sacred foundation, or long partnered and ready to rediscover each other — this space holds both.
You feel the love between you — but something is armored, contracted, unexpressed. You want to come back to each other.
You are two good people who somehow keep missing each other. You want the tools and the safety to actually be heard.
You have sensed that there is something more available in your body, your sexuality, your relationship — and you want a grounded, mature introduction.
Waterfall hikes, Pacific beach days, jungle mornings — this retreat balances profound inner work with genuine Costa Rican adventure.
After years together, it is possible to fall in love again — more consciously, more completely. This space is held for that rediscovery.
Each modality we offer has been lived — not just studied. Michael and Astara bring these practices not as techniques but as transmissions from their own ongoing path.
Deep rhythmic breathwork that bypasses the thinking mind and moves directly into the somatic field — releasing held emotions, expanding energy, and opening doors of perception that words cannot reach.
Morning Kriya practice awakens the spine and the subtle body, building vitality from the inside out. A technology of self-realization that Astara has practiced and taught for years.
Gentle, consent-based somatic release work that allows the body to let go of chronically held tension, armor, and stored emotional material — creating spaciousness, aliveness, and a new capacity for pleasure.
Mature, heart-centered teachings from the Taoist and Tantric traditions — covering energy cultivation, polarity, the art of presence in lovemaking, and how to meet each other more fully.
We open the retreat with ceremonial cacao — a heart-opening plant medicine that invites receptivity, warmth, and presence. The perfect threshold into five days of deeper feeling.
The Pacific Ocean, the Nauyaca waterfall, the rivers — Costa Rica's natural world becomes part of the medicine. Beach days, jungle hikes, and moments of pure elemental aliveness.
Tantra reveals that how we speak to each other is itself a practice. We explore communication not as a skill to learn but as a living art — one that transforms conflict into intimacy and misunderstanding into deeper knowing.
Your retreat is fully customized and co-created with you before arrival. After booking, you'll receive a personal questionnaire — and we'll connect on a call to understand your intentions, your relationship, and what you most need from this time together. From there, we shape the five days around you.
Each day carries its own rhythm of practice, adventure, rest, and nourishment — woven together in a way that feels alive and spacious, never forced.
Every retreat is private. These words come from real couples and individuals who trusted the process.
The way we experience intimacy with each other now has shifted so much. We're so much more open with each other, our communication feels honest and alive, and there's a depth and ease between us that we didn't know was possible. After thirty years of marriage, there was a lot that needed to be felt — and this was the only place we truly felt safe enough to come undone.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt incredibly special — supportive, open-minded, and deeply personal. Michael and Astara's thoughtful guidance made us feel understood and supported every step of the way. The bodywork and breathwork sessions were standout highlights, offering powerful moments of connection and growth for both of us. This nurturing environment helped us break free from traditional roles shaped by our cultural backgrounds, opening new paths for communication and intimacy. We left feeling grateful for the personalized approach and the meaningful shifts we experienced. It's an experience that truly helped us flourish together.
Their work is beautiful, intuitive and has so much grace. We spent time exploring tantric relationships and their sharing has helped us continue to grow our conscious relationship to another level. We are eternally grateful.
I was able to release deep tension stored in my body and experience a true orgasm in a way I never had before. Our communication and sex life has improved significantly. Their guidance was supportive, grounded, and transformative — for us as a couple and for me individually.
What makes this retreat rare is that it is born from our lived devotion — as a married couple with a child, walking the path of Tantra and conscious relating together. We don't just teach these practices. We live them.
Michael's path into this work began through a profound spiritual awakening in 2010. Having grown up within the patterns of modern Western conditioning, he spent the following decade studying Tantra, shamanism, somatic healing, and sacred sexuality — learning how to reconnect with his soul and body in a healthy, integrated way. His approach weaves mental and emotional exploration with somatic healing, creating a holistic process that supports lasting transformation. He holds formal training in massage therapy, Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage, breathwork facilitation, and has spent years in dieta with master plant medicines in the Mamankunawa lineage.
Rooted in the Tantric somatic arts, feminine holistic movement, breathwork, sacred sexuality, womb healing, and the ancient wisdom of Himalayan Kriya Yoga, Astara curates immersive journeys that invite deep inner listening, softening, and reclamation. Her presence is both gentle and powerful — offering a container where wounds unravel, nervous systems soften, and the body remembers its own sacred intelligence. Her own healing path — through depression, a profound kundalini awakening in India, and the transformative journey of motherhood — is the living source of her work.
